How climbing ropes are made

First dynamic rope by Edelrid

In 1964, Edelrid released the first modern, dynamic climbing rope, and they’re still manufacturing ropes today. Take a look behind-the-scenes at their factory in Allgäu, Germany to see how climbing ropes are made, from nylon fiber to finished product. Brand manager Carsten von Birckhahn explains the process. Sadly, Carsten passed away in a paragliding accident in July, 2017. This video series is dedicated to him.
