Backup points
Backup points
Always backup attachment points in cases when shock load is possible especially when attachment is done to a single point.
If the point on the harness has symmetrical point on the opposite side of the harness we recommend to use both points to attach the performer. It’s like A/2 points in fall arrest harness.
It’s ok for stunt harness to go with single point attachment when task need it. For example, some ratchet pulls under certain angle or when wrapping around the body is used.
gallery: Backup points
On the photo each attachment points of two on the back attached to its own cross point as backup. As a connector compact slings made of Dyneema are used.
Points
- If both of those points on the photo ripped off under shock load we are pretty sure the performer is dead. Because these two points on the Dyneema are very strong and the force to break them will exceed impact acceptable for human body;
- Use shortest possible slings to backup point to avoid another shock load;
- Be sure to use proper connector. Maillon or shackle should have proper WLL.
